SURFACE PREPARATION:
Wooden Surfaces
Sand surface until wood is smooth to the touch. Hammer all nails deep enough to apply BOYSEN® Lacquer Spot Putty B- 306. Dust off surfaces completely then wipe with a clean rag. If repainting, remove all paint by using manual or mechanical methods prior to the application of BOYSEN® Automotive Lacquer.
Metal Surfaces
Wipe the surface with a rag soaked in paint thinner to remove grease, oil, wax and other foreign matter. For new galvanized surfaces, etch the surface by applying 10% BOYSEN® Metal Etching Solution B-71 (Dilute 1 part of B-71 to 9 parts water). Rinse with water and dry immediately.
Unpainted galvanized surfaces that have been exposed for 6 months or more need not be etched.
Treat rusted steel by sanding and wire brushing. Use BOYSEN® Metal Etching Solution B-71 on remaining rust. Let it stay for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to remove all remaining residue. Immediately prime after drying.
